A group calling itself, the Graduate Lens is calling for an independent body to investigate claims of corruption levelled against some members of the Appointments Committee.
The Bawku Central MP Mahama Ayariga has alleged that attempts were made to bribe members of the minority caucus on the appointments committee with GHC3000 each to pass the then Energy minister-designate Boakye Agyarko, following his vetting.
He claimed the money was given to the minority chief whip Muntaka Mubarak to share for the minority, a claim that has been refuted by the Asawase MP.
In a statement, the group said Ghanaians would trust in the work of an Independent body investigating the bribery scandal instead of a parliamentary committee.

“The Graduate Lens thinks that this investigation would bleed profusely if Parliament itself probes into this issue.
“We believe this would not be in the larger interest of the citizens because of past corruption allegations against the Parliament of Ghana and how those allegations were handled,” the group said.
