Ghana begins 2017 with an inflation rate of 13.3%. The figure is a drop from the 15.4% recorded in December 2016.
The acting Government Statistician Baah Wadieh in announcing the figure said the inflation rate for January is the lowest rate since December 2013.
The Upper West region recorded the highest combined inflation of 14.0 percent. The Volta region recorded the lowest regional inflation of 11.6 percent.
Five regions (Upper West, Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western and Brong Ahafo) recorded inflation rates higher than the national average of 13.3%.
The Upper West region recorded the highest year-on-year inflation rate of 14.0%, followed by the Greater Accra region with 13.9%.
Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures the change over time in the general price levels of goods and services that households acquire for the purposes of consumption, with reference to the pricing level in 2012, the base year, which has an index of 100.
