The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress Johnson Asiedu Nketia has derided the state of the nation address delivered by President Akufo-Addo at Parliament today, Tuesday February 21.

According to the NDC kingpin, the President merely repeated his campaign promises to Ghanaians in the address.

The President addressed parliament for the first time since he was sworn into office on January 7, this year.

He told the House his government is determined to improve the standard of Ghanaians in spite of the challenges inherited from the Mahama government.

“I wasn’t elected by the people to complain… I was elected to fix what is broken and my government and I are determined to do just that,” Akufo-Addo promised.

Commenting on the address, Mr. Nketia said the President said nothing new in his address.

“Akufo-Addo is just repeating his campaign promises. I won’t blame him because he has nothing to say for now, he is just settling in.  So for me, the address amounted to a repetition and recycling of the same old things. He is just relying on factual information to make those claims,” he said.
