President Akufo-Addo has appointed a lead regional economist of the African Development Bank Dr. Ernest Addison as the new Governor of the Bank of Ghana.

His appointment follows the resignation of Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku on Wednesday on “personal grounds.”

According to a communication from the Presidency, a letter has been dispatched to the Council of State for consultation.

Dr. Addison, an Economics graduate of the University of Ghana, Legon, holds an M.Phil. in Economics and Politics from the University of Cambridge, England; and a Ph.D in Economics from McGill University, Canada.

Work Experience

Dr. Addison joined the African Development Bank in May 2011 and has worked as a lead economist.

Before joining the AfDB, Dr. Addison was a Director of Research at the Bank of Ghana from 2003 to 2011. He was also the Chief Economist at the West African Monetary Institute from 2000 – 2003.
