For many decades now, cocoa has been the highest earning crop export in Ghana, but some agricultural scientists believe, it could soon lose that position to Orange-fleshed Sweet Potatoes.

The demand for this variety of potato is high in Europe, and the International Potato Center which is promoting its consumption in Ghana believes the country stands to gain if more attention is paid to that sector.

Starr Business‘ Tawakalitu Braimah took part in a tour to the Volta region to assess how this variety of potato is gradually becoming a source of income for smallholder farmers and other business operators.
