Ghana Football Association(GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has won a seat on the council of FIFA starting this year.

Nyantakyi won the election by beating his opponent from Tanzania, Leodegar Tenga, by 33-20 for the Anglophone category.

This came off at the CAF 39th Ordinary General Assembly at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa on Thursday, March 16.

The longest serving Ghana Football Association leader’s victory over the Tanzanian comes as good news to the Ghanaian football fraternity.

Nyantakyi will serve from 2017-2021 for his first term and will be joined by Tarek Bouchamou, Almamy Camar, Lydia Nsekera and Constant Omari on the FIFA council.
