Sixty libraries will be built across the 10 regions of the country as part of the legacy projects of the Ghana 60 Years on anniversary celebration.

The libraries are being funded by West Blue Consulting Limited.

The construction sites have been earmarked already. The libraries are to serve as one of the legacy projects for the Ghana@60 celebrations.

According to the committee, every region will have six libraries. The libraries will be in three categories – Mobile Libraries, Block Libraries and Container Libraries.

Addressing the press conference to announce the beginning of the Project, CEO of West Blue, Valentina Sowu Mintah said her outfit will ensure that the project is completed within time.

“As a proud Ghanaian ICT solutions company we are passionate about the role information and communication technology play in our society. We believe that the Ghana@60 library programme will empower the marginalized group.

“Our youth can now dream big and the adult and elderly will not be left out… this programme will adopt a Public Private and Community approach to ensure sustainability,” Mintah said.

“We’ll ensure participation from all stakeholders. We call on all individuals, businesses and NGOs to engage the Ghana@60 committee to lend their skills, passion and their financial contributions as together we can mobilise for Ghana’s future.”
