Societe Generale Ghana has reiterated its commitment to make banking innovative, convenient and hassle-free for its numerous clients. The bank has introduced what it calls the digital corner, outside of the banking hall.

The digital zone which has solar-powered automated teller machines and mobile tablets provides swift access for customers to check their account balance, make deposits, do transfers and other transactions.

Deputy Managing Director of SG, Francois Marchall revealed this to Ultimate Business at a short ceremony to commission three of its refurbished and relocated branches in Kumasi.

“Digitalization is important and it is all about usage. We go digital because our clients go digital. We still have a part of our clients who will never do a transfer on the tablet but the new generation is coming and have no time or willingness to queue at the branch so that is why we have provided various channels.

“Customers have different needs and we are trying to cater for everyone. More and more businesses want to do transfers through e-banking platforms. Cash is more digital with mobile money, so it is the market that is driving us to go there”.

Meanwhile, touching on the 17.5 percent tax that has been scrapped on financial services, Mr. Marchall said it could not have come at a better time, given that it is a great relief for businesses.

“It is good news for everyone, especially for consumers. For us, the difficulty was to implement the VAT. We had to create new accounts to cushion the amounts we were collecting from clients to give it back to the government. Now it has been abolished so we have stopped charging and we don’t pay anything back to the government at the end of the month”.

The Branch Manager for Suame, Mr. James Sowah Okpoti, took customers on a tour of the relocated ultra-modern branch and also schooled them on the digital corner.

Societe Generale Ghana which is listed among the Ghana Club 100 is one of the leading banks, providing retail, corporate and SME clients with unique tailor-made and innovative banking products and services.
