Of what promises to be arguably Ghana’s biggest gathering of extremely talented poets and spoken word artistes from across the country, Crabbita Media Consult, announced its first flagship event christened ‘Spit Bars and Poetry’ last Friday.

The show will take place in Accra at the Tesano Baptist Church on Sunday June 25, 2017, from 4pm – 8pm.

Notable faces leading the growth of the country’s poetry and spoken word scene such as ‘poetic-god’ Nana Asaase and female face of the event, Nana Afua Asuming aka Mysnova are slated to highlight the adopted theme, #BeBoldForChange as well as some principal topical areas: Child Rape, Trokosi, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Violence against Women, Women Empowerment, Love and Faith.

Students, poets and spoken word artistes from the country’s premiere University of Ghana, Legon and also from Poetry GH including Menaye Akua, Neimatu Samadu, Gabla Godwin, Stella Bruce, Dodzi Aveh (Deydzie), are among the over 15 performers billed to make the evening of poetic-magic unforgettable.

Manager and Press Agent of Crabbita Media Consult, a full-service Press Agency, Brands Communications Management and Arts outfit, Crabbe Nathaniel opined in an interview that while the event is poetry and spoken word oriented it would also feature choral music ministrations.

“People cannot afford to miss out on this because we have prepared mind blowing free give aways for participants and a surprise face to pop up”, he added.

There will be a free eye checkup by Godly Favoured Eye Care Centre for the first 100 attendees to get to the venue between 3:30 – 4:00pm and a discount on spectacles purchased.

Drink Station GH would treat over 50 participants who make it to the event grounds before 4:30pm to free cocktails and fresh juices. On-the-spot haircut and make-up grooming, free photoshoots are the least of what event attendees should be expecting.
