Friends and old school mates of the late Captain Maxwell Mahama have paid a glowing tribute to his memory.

Old Saints, as old students of  the Saint John Senior High school are called, described the soldier as a disciplined individual who always sought peace and was at peace with everyone, including his juniors.

Christian, a friend to Maxwell, said sleep has eluded him and he cannot come to terms with the death.

“I saw the picture on our whatsapp group and thought he was being promoted to another level so I just watched the picture and went to bed. Then around 1am, a friend called me from the U.S and said this is what has happened to him, ever since I have had insomnia, I have not been able to sleep. He was a very vibrant cadet member, very respectful to everyone even the juniors. It’s very said that he had to leave us this way”.

The headmaster of the school , Anthony J. Mensah,  told Empire FM’s Nana Adjoa Entsuah that the school and the nation has lost a gallant soldier.

“He was a very good student. Academically good and he came out with very good grades. He came from Akosombo international School and he was very good. The news came to us as a shock. We couldn’t comprehend how human beings could treat a fellow human being in such a manner. The way he was lynched to death is not the best. The school is planning a memorial service in honour of the late captain”.
