Head Coach of the Black Stars Kwesi Appiah has stated his vision to build a team that can be sustainable for the next ten years.

The 1992 Cup of Nations silver medalist got his new reign off to a bright start on Sunday when he guided the Black Stars to beat Ethiopia 5-0 in a 2019 AFCON qualifier.

“Am here to rebuild the team, my intention is to get a team that can be sustainable for the next ten years even though we have a team now, my ambition is to develop a succession plan that can enable me solve the short, medium and long term issues of player replacements.

“Though the current crop of players may be doing well am of the conviction that others [footballers] should be given the chance too,” Appiah said.

Appiah introduced three new players in his starting lineup in the game against Ethiopia.

Rafael Dwamena, Lumor Agbenyenu, and Thomas Agyapong excelled on their debut in the absence of Christian Atsu, Mubarak Wakasso and Baba Abdul Rahman.

According to Appiah, the Black Stars building process has just begun.
