The Finance Minister is expected to explain the circumstances surrounding the issuance of the 2.25 billion dollar bond when he comes before Parliament today, Wednesday June 7.

Ken Ofori Atta was summoned to the House by the Speaker after the Minority Leader moved a special motion requesting that the Finance Minister briefs the House on the details of the bond.

The motion will require that the Finance Minister provide detailed information including the full complement of documentation related to the issuance, participation and utilization of the proceeds of the bond.

Already, the Minority has petitioned the Securities and Exchange Commission in the US to probe the deal.

MP for Bawku Central Mahama Ayariga told Starr News that Wednesday’s hearing will give somewhat of a glimpse into the bond whose transaction is viewed with a great deal of suspicion

The issuance of the bond is currently also under investigations by Ghana’s Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) over possible conflict of interest
