Police in Accra have blocked some major roads to control traffic for the state funeral of Major Maxwell Adam Mahama.
The affected areas which include the Castle road and the AU roundabout road towards the Osu cemetery traffic light, will be closed to motorists from early hours of today June 9 and opened after the event.
“Motorists using the Osu Cemetery road towards the AU Roundabout will be directed through the Accra Sports Stadium to the Ministries through National Theatre to the Central Business District (CBD).Police will be on vantage points to ensure smooth flow of traffic,” statement by Greater Accra regional Police PRO ASP Effia Tenge said..
A vigil was held at the Arakan mess at Burma camp on Thursday night ahead of his funeral and burial at the Osu Cemetery.
Major Mahama was lynched and burnt last week by an irate mob at Denkyira Obuase in the Central region where he was heading a military operation against illegal mining.
