A board member of Accra Hearts of Oak Frank Nelson Nwokolo has said he is not surprised at Thomas Abbey’s “excellent performance” in the on-going Ghana Premiere League season.

The winger has put up an outstanding performance, having scored 12-goals to move to the summit of the top scorers’ chat with Bechem United’s Ahmed Toure, but with a better assist ratio to his credit.

“I don’t think any other player in the league has shown much greatness than Abbey and it’s not just because I am a member of the club.

“The records are there for all to see… so for me, I am not surprised at all,” he told Starr Sports.

Nelson insists the captain of the Phobians has come of age and believes the 23-year old deserves the NASCO player of the month award for July.

“I am not seeing any one winning the accolade than him (Abbey) because he has been awesome this season and we have all seen his performance in the league so far; he deserves it,” he stressed.
