A deputy chairperson of the electoral commission Georgina Opoku Amankwaa has claimed that her boss Charlotte Osei blatantly refused to visit regional offices of the commission, citing security concerns.

The claim comes on the back of a string of accusations and counter accusations that have engulfed the commission over the last one week.

The commissioner has accused Mrs. Opoku Amankwaa and one other deputy, Amadu Sulley of corrupt practices and misconduct, prompting an EOCO investigations against them.

In response, however, Mrs. Amankwaa among other things, said her superior appears desperate and malicious with her claims.

“…Again the allegation that scheduled meetings for her familiarization with directors was sabotaged leaves so much to be desired. I called a commission meeting to have her introduced to the commission members which was followed by a meeting with directors, sectional heads and other senior officers at the head office.

“I personally proposed a regional familiarization tour to have her introduced to staff but she blatantly refused, citing security reasons. Surprisingly since her assumption to duty, she has never visited any of the offices of the deputies. Again, she has not visited neither regional nor district offices of the commission,” Mrs. Amankwaa said her in reaction.

Meanwhile, Mr. Sulley has also denied the corruption claims against him by Mrs. Osei noting that he is consulting his lawyers to seek legal advice over the development.
