Ghana’s Fashion Accessories Designer extraordinaire, Ms. Selina Bebaako-Mensah won two awards at the 6th bi-annual European & international women inventors, innovators & entrepreneurs exhibition, conference & awards 2017.

The programme organised by the European & International Women Inventors and Innovators Network (EIWIIN) and Global Women Inventors and Innovators Network (GWIIN) in partnership with the Italian Women Inventors and Innovators Network (ITWIIN) took place in Bari, Italy.

Selina Beb who  represented Ghana at the event won one for Ingenious & Innovative Achievements and the 2nd one was for Social Innovation/Capacity Building; she won the gold prize in that category. Selina makes  African inspired  accessories like bags, footwear and jewellery. All her products are made in Ghana.

The exhibition  during the first day, 28th June gave the judges, students of the University of Bari and the general public  the opportunity to see the products/inventions of the participants.

The  panel of International EUWIIN judges are carefully selected from various backgrounds and they had the challenge of deciding who out of the ‘Specially Recognised’ women from around the world  should be further recognised and named ‘The International European Female Inventor or Innovator Of the Year 2017’. The women inventors and Innovators were invited to meet with the panel of judges for a very short interview. After which the judges decided who the overall winner and winners of other categories were.

The conference took place during the exhibition and judging period on the first day where high profile speakers at the conference including a representative from the European parliament and Ghanaian lawyer, Penelope Jones-Mensah.
