Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko exchanged positions in week 21 of the local topflight after Aduana Stars won to move joint-top of the table.

Aduana Stars picked crucial points at home, Asante Kotoko beat Medeama SC to move to third place while rivals Hearts of Oak lost at Bechem to drop to fourth on the log.

League leaders Wafa, contributed about seven players to Ghana’s home-based side who were in Togo for an international friendly, and this apparently necessitated the postponement of their clash with Ashanti Gold.

With the Academy Boys sitting three points clear at the top ahead of the matchday, second-placed Aduana have now equalled Klavs Rasmussen’s outfit on points following a 2-1 home victory over Liberty Professionals. Bright Adjei scored to add to Sam Adams’ penalty while Bernard Arthur fetched the Scientific Soccer Lads’ consolation.

Wafa only still occupy the top position because of a better goal record.

Ebusua Dwarfs lie on fifth position following their 2-1 away win over Tema Youth in Saturday’s only game. Goals from Nicholas Gyan and Joseph Esso powered the Crabs to victory. Tawfiq Mohammed got the home team’s only goal.

Sixth-placed Inter Allies, meanwhile, were held to a 1-1 draw at Berekum Chelsea.

The plight of reigning champions Wa All Stars has been shocking, and on Sunday, the Northern Blues were condemned to their eighth defeat of the season by relegation-trapped Great Olympics.
