Happy Smiles Foundation, a non-governmental organization, that reaches out to destitute kids and individuals in the society, on Saturday, July 8, 2017 donated items to the Remar Shalom Education Center at Pakro in the Eastern region.

The foundation, formed in January 2017 by five university students – Owusu Nana Lord Kelvin (KNUST), Bofa Oppong Clement (UG), Rahman Fadil (KNUST), Bedzra Michael (UPSA), and Osono Dereck (KNUST) – aims at putting smiles on the faces of everyone.

The home is in three communities: the boys’ community, the girls’ community and the men community which is also a rehabilitation center. It has inmates of 39 Boys, 37 Girls and 53 problematic drug users under rehabilitation.

Items donated included clothes, learning materials, food items and provisions to help support the optimum management of the home.

Clement, also being the Chapter’s Coordinator for Students for Sensible Drug Policy, Ghana (SSDP) seized the opportunity to encourage the inmates of the rehabilitation centre as well as acknowledged their work and efforts.

“We are still poised to do more in changing the lives of the less privileged and making smiles. We would therefore love to invite all and sundry to come on board to help realize our vision as it is true what Abraham Lincoln said; ‘when you do good you feel good’.  The feeling we had during our pilot project was fulfilling, extraordinary and new to our souls”.
