Ghana Olympic Committee president Ben Nunoo Mensah has said he is not worried over Ghana’s failure to win a medal at the Youth Commonwealth games in Bahamas.

Ghana presented nine athletes in six disciplines – athletics, boxing, beach volleyball, swimming, judo and tennis – but failed to win silverware at the event.

Mr. Mensah claims team Ghana needs more exposure to come good in future competition.

“We need to be giving them (athletes) a lot of exposure just as we do for our national football teams when they are about to go into any tournament, we always play friendlies making sure our boys are ready for the competition,” he told Starr Sports.

Mensah said the same cannot be said about athletes when preparing ahead of tournaments.

“You can’t say same for our athletes… they sometimes even have to travel without their coaches,” Mensah noted.

The GOC president stated upon all the difficulties his outfit faces, they are putting in a lot of investment to make sure they build up athletes ahead of future competitions and hopes they will win some medals for Ghana.
