The National Security has retrieved a secret audio-visual recorder planted in the office of the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, John Peter Amewu.

According to sources close to the matter, the device was planted in a huge Coat of Arms plaque hanging in the Minister’s office. The espionage set up included a camera, a storage unit and another device suspected to be a transmitter.

It is believed to be able to pick a whisper 35-feet away.

The Minister who has been at the fore-front of the fight against illegal mining confirming the retrieval of the spying device Monday on Accra-based Joy FM said he was gobstruck by the discovery.

“It is quite surprising,” he noted.

He explained that the device was uncovered during a “screening process by the National Security agencies” and that it is frightening why such a device “will be planted in my office.”
