A Tarkwa Circuit Court has sentenced a 22-year-old small scale miner to seven years imprisonment for allegedly defiling a 15-year old Junior High School girl.

The convict, Patrick Asamoah, was sentenced after pleading guilty to the offense.

Prosecuting Chief Inspector, Faustina Celestina Anaman said the victim started complaining of pains between her legs which persisted for a while and the victim’s father Yaw Boateng became suspicious of a possible defilement.

The Prosecutor went on to tell the court that “the complainant invited his pastor and both of them quizzed the victim if she had engaged in sexual intercourse with any man.”

“The victim during the grill, mentioned the name of the accused as having sexual intercourse with her on three different occasions and later threatened to beat her to death if she told anyone about it,” the prosecutor narrated.

The complainant [Yaw Boateng] reported the case at the Amoanda Police Station in the Prestea Huni-Valley district in the Western region and Asamoah was arrested by the police for interrogation.

According to the Prosecutor, Asamoah during his interrogation denied being involved in any such acts until a medical examination proved otherwise.
