The Government of Ghana has announced it will today Friday, August 18, airlift relief Items to crisis-stricken Sierra Leone.

The items which comprise of food, clothing and logistics are estimated to cost some one million US dollars.

“The government of Ghana, will later today August 18, 2017, airlift relief items to Sierra Leone in support of relief efforts currently ongoing, following the mudslide that has left over 300 persons dead and about 600 missing in Freetown. The items are estimated to cost one million US dollars,” a statement from the Information ministry said.

The development comes on the back of President Akufo-Addo’s promise to the Sierra Leonean President of Ghana’s support as the neighboring country grieves.

Meanwhile, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will on Saturday, August 19, 2017, visit the country to commiserate with them on behalf of the people of Ghana.
