The MP for Sagnarigu Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini has described as “crass illegality” the raiding of the homes of John Jinapor and Dr. Dominic Ayine – MPs for Yapei Kusawgu and Bolgatanga East respectively – by the CID in connection with the ongoing investigations into the Ameri Power deal.
The homes of the two who served as ministers in the John Mahama administration were ransacked by the CID on July 28, 2017 in search of documents on the controversial deal. It followed a similar exercise at the home of former Minister of Power Dr. Kwabena Donkor by four personnel of the CID.
Reacting to the development, Wednesday August 2, 2017 on Morning Starr Mr. Fuseini said the actions of the CID are unacceptable, citing Article 122 of the 1992 Constitution and order 22 of Parliament’s standing order to augment his claim.
“They are aware that to carry such actions you have to go through Mr. Speaker. They know the process. Yet, they willfully under the hiding behind court warrants and others to do what they are doing. That is crass illegality. They cannot do that,” he told host of Morning Starr Francis Abban.
He further added that the raids are “plain vindictive wickedness” aimed at scaring the minority into dithering.
He said “If the intention is that by so doing they are going to petrify the minority into inaction, they can’t frightened us. I can assure you that we have been elected by the good people of this country to hold the feet of government to the fire of accountability and that is what we are going to do. We are not going to shirk one minute.”
