Cristiano Ronaldo has won the 2017 UEFA Player of the Year award, as expected by the critics and journalists after a brilliant season where his team conquered the Champions League and the La Liga titles.

This will most likely be Ronaldo’s first individual accolade of the year as he is also expected to win FIFA’s The Best and the Ballon D’Or.

Ronaldo deserved to win this award after his extraordinary performances. He carried his team to the Champions League title by scoring goals against Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich in the knockout rounds while also achieving a brace in the Champions League Final against Juventus.

As long as Real Madrid keep winning titles, Ronaldo will also be the team’s primary candidate to win individual awards. That’s mainly why he needs to stay with the club until the very end of his career if he wants more Ballons D’Or, The Best or UEFA Best Player of the Year awards.
