Ghana’s Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah on Thursday inaugurated the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2018 Women’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The 11-member Local Organising Committee under the chairperson of parliamentarian Freda Akosua Prempeh have been tasked to organise and host the 2018 Women’s AFCON football competition successfully.
Without any terms of reference, madam Prempeh believes she and her team will take the opportunity to host and win the tournament come next year.
“We are going to work hard and bring the hosting to fruition. I can assure the citizenry we involve all those who matter. In the interim will we re-exam the stadia, sponsorship, security, transportation and accommodation.
“With the stadia, we will look at the Accra and Cape Coast Stadium for now since the proposed Legon stadium has not been completed,” Madam Prempeh told Starr Sports.
The 13th edition of the competition starts from 17 November to 1 December 2018.
