The Head of the Mathematics department at the Dadieso Senior High School in the Western Region, Akpor Adjei, has been arrested for an alleged extortion in the ongoing admissions under the free SHS policy.

District Chief Executive for Dadieso, Christian Baah, who led a team of police personnel to arrest the teacher told Empire News’ Emmanuel Ohene Gyan that many parents in the district have fallen victim to Mr. Adjei’s operations.

According to the DCE, the mathematics teacher forcibly asked parents and students to pay an amount of150 Ghana Cedis to enable him supply them with mathematical sets and other materials.

These items are, however, already covered by the free SHS Policy.

The DCE said the teacher’s behavior has caused the wagging of tongues among parents who are criticizing the policy by the government.

He was arrested Sunday morning after trying to charge another parent at his office. He is currently in police cells at the Dadieso police station.
