Students of Koforidua Technical University (KTU) will now have access to unlimited electronic library to enhance research and learning activities.

The 130-Seater e-Library commissioned and handed over to the University by MTN Foundation will provide access to electronic sources of information including 10 academic database and 19000 e- journals from reputable database and publishers.

The e-Library will also enable users obtain online catalogues and conveniently make library request through email.

According to the Vice Chancellor of KTU, Prof. (Mrs) Smile Dzisi, “the facility will be made available 24hours and seven days in a week so that students on distance and open learning program will not be disadvantaged.”

She added: “Access to this library is not limited by distance and time, indeed from the comfort of their homes, offices, laboratories, fields and other work places, our staff, students and other work partners can connect to this library”.

Prof. Dzisi stated the 20-Seater staff portion of e-Library will serve as sound proof for video conferencing, seminar and recording of live lectures.

The cost of the project (excluding building cost) is approximately Gh¢560, 000 funded by the Institution. MTN Ghana Foundation furnished it with 90 computers and accessories.

The Manager, Sustainability and Social Impact at MTN Ghana Foundation, Mrs Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, said the E-Library will have a significant impact on students in terms of knowledge acquisition and innovations.
