The Northern Electricity Company has warned it will be compelled to publicly name shameless customers who are identified to have stolen power.

This strategy is being deployed in order to discourage the practice and also reduce the significant revenue losses suffered by the power company.

For instance, in Techiman alone, 40 percent of power distributed by NEDCO is not accounted for when revenue is reconciled.

The PRO for NEDCO in the Brong Ahafo Region said the company will not spare anybody found to have engaged in power theft.

“We have launched this to save the company. It is directed at illegal connections and non-payment of light bills. Going forward we are not just going to limit the exercise to talking,  we will also include naming and shaming and so if we get culprits, we will publish the person’s name, house address, place of work, place of fellowship so that at least if the Police is not going to work, the court must work and if both don’t work at least the naming and shaming should be able to save us”.
