The Ashanti regional Minister Simon Osei has ordered managers of state transport company (STC) to put their planned movement to the Neoplan bus terminal at Asafo in Kumasi on hold.

This was after the minister met the leadership of the STC and the GPRTU in the Ashanti region Tuesday.

Workers of the VIP Transport Services clashed with staff and management of STC preventing them from operating at the bus terminal Monday.

The VIP workers claim STC did not use the right means to secure their space at the Asafo terminal and so will not allow them entry.

But  Sintim Aboagye, the deputy operations for STC in the Ashanti region says operators of VIP are preventing STC from moving into the Asafo terminal because of the competition the state operator brings on-board.

The development caused a major standoff at the terminal prompting the regional minister to intervene.

Ultimate FM’s Isaac Bediako justice who monitored the meeting Tuesday reported that managers of STC including its MD Nana Akomea emerged out of the meeting looking unhappy.

The regional minister is set to meet both parties again on Friday
