Tasty Joint, a popular restaurant in Sunyani, the Brong Ahafo Regional capital was on Saturday destroyed by fire after a gas cylinder exploded in the restaurant’s kitchen.
Properties running into thousands of Ghana cedis were destroyed in the inferno, according to Starr FM’s Brong Ahafo regional correspondent Mfum Sarpong.
Fridges and other properties were also destroyed in the blaze.
The quick response from the Ghana National Fire Service prevented that fire from spreading to other stalls in the building.
No death has yet been recorded but some workers in the restaurant’s kitchen sustained some injuries as they attempted to escape the explosion.
Mr. Gyesi Boateng, Deputy Commander of the Brong Ahafo regional Fire Service told Starr News that they had to battle the fire for over 30 minutes before they brought it under control.
