The National Network Coordinator for WANEP-Ghana, Albert Yelyang has described as precarious the latest development in Bimbilla following a standoff between chiefs of the area and the Northern regional Security Council.
The chiefs of Nanumba Traditional Area and the Dasana family in the protracted dispute there slammed the regional Security Council headed by the Minister Salifu Saeed for granting the request for the burial of the late Nakpa Naa Salifu Dawuni.
The decision to grant the request, according to the REGSEC was based “on a medical report on the deteriorating state of the mortal remain” of the chief who died on 5th March 2014.
The late Nakpa Naa Salifu Dawuni was buried after his body was kept at the morgue for three years.
The body of the late Nakpa Naa who laid claim to the Bimbila skin was seized in 2014 by the previous Security Council and kept at the facility under tight security watch after violence among the Gbugmayili gate over who to represent the family for the Bimbila skin after the death of a chief coming from the Bangyili faction.
The burial which took place at his private residence in Bimbila was done under heavy security.
Speaking on Morning Starr on the matter Thursday Mr. Yelyang said the situation in Bimbilla is “something everybody must pay attention to.”
He added, “Going forward, despite the situation, there is a need for the two factions to get a way to engage. It is important to have a kind of reasoning between the two parties to ensure peace.
“Various regimes seem to be more interested in addressing the issues but how it is done is what matters. We encourage the factions to lead the process; that way, the process can be sustained.”
