A Takoradi District Court has remanded into police custody a Chinese man who shot and killed a Ghanaian in Wassa Akropong in the Western region.

The Chinese national known as Jinag Gen Hai shot and killed 30-year-old Nana Boamah during a misunderstanding between him and some Chinese in the area.

Facts of the case indicate that Boamah was invited as a witness by a plumber during a disagreement between the Chinese native and the plumber.

Gen Hai reportedly paid the plumber GHC50 for a job after they had earlier agreed on GHC150 as payment.

However, during the misunderstanding, Gen Hai ended up shooting the Ghanaian after he pulled out a gun to scare the plumber.

The youth of Wassa Akropong in response to the killing burnt several cars belonging to the Chinese nationals in the town, and also vandalizied other properties.They are also demanding that all Chinese nationals in the town are immediately sacked by the traditional authorities.

According to the Police, the Chinese national will be charged for murder. The case has since been adjourned to Thursday, 26th October, 2017.
