The New Juaben Traditional Council has summoned the owner of the Tie and Dye waste Chemical disposed into the Nsukwao River on Saturday.

The waste disposed into the river created anxiety among residents following the ‘mysterious’ decolorization of the river.

According the Krontihene of New Juaben, Barfuor Tutu Nyantakyi Boateng, the EPA, the Police and the New Juaben Municipal Assembly must also take up the matter and deal with the culprit for negligence.

Speaking to the media in Koforidua, He has asked residents to disregard claims by some pastors who have taken advantage of the incident to deceive them.

Meanwhile, Police preliminary investigation has revealed that the tie and dye fabric producers have stopped operating in the area for about a decade and have left the house which they used to operate.

However, an occupant of the house, a 60-year-old woman and her grandchildren now staying in the house decided to dispose of the chemicals because it was emitting bad odour.
