Ghana’s Black Starlets defeated their Colombia counterparts in the opening game of FIFA U-17 World Cup in India on Friday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the city of New Delhi.

Ghana scored the only goal of the match n the 37th minute through Sadiq Ibrahim who converted from close range after a cross from captain Eric Ayiah, who wasted a chance of his own in the second half.

The two teams had equal exchanges with both technical handlers injecting in new limbs but the scoreline stayed the same till the 90 minutes was up.

The Black Starlets now lead Group A with three points and the second group game comes off later today between India and USA.

Ghana will face USA in their second game of the competition on Monday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
