Striking nurses at the Ankaful Psychiatric hospital have rejected a plea by the Health Minister asking them to allow their embattled medical director to stay in office despite their sustained protest for his removal.

Dr. Kwaku Ageymang Manu on Tuesday, November 28 appealed to the workers to allow Eugene Dordoye stay on for at least 3 months while he works to address their concerns with him. But the nurses have turned down the request.

The staff including nurses and casual workers at Ankaful accuse Dr  Eugene Dordoye of gross disrespect towards workers as well as mismanagement of the hospital’s funds.

They want Dr Dordoye removed from post immediately.

One of the leaders of the striking nurses told Starr News they are not backing out of the strike.

” The Minister’s meeting angered them the most, because they know their rights and their rights have been violated. It’s not about our personal gain, it is about making sure the right thing is done, like the President rightly said we should be citizens and not spectators so we are doing exactly that. We cannot continue to work with someone who disrespects us, we don’t want him at post”.
