CEO, Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB) Ghana, Anthony Yaw Oppong

The Chief Executive Officer of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB) Ghana, Anthony Yaw Oppong has entreated the recent graduates of the school to make the customer key in all their dealings.

“As you go out as chartered bankers, have in mind the fact that the industry’s expectations of you in your line of duty will be very high. Endeavour to be recognized for your in-depth knowledge in the banking and finance terrain, be customer focused and exhibit professionalism in all you do” he told the graduates.

According to him, the ever changing banking sphere will offer very challenging tasks but the pragmatic skills taught them during their stay in the school is enough to guide them.

“You will face challenges but this is what the “real world” is all about and the next phase in your life is a great training ground for your future success”.

The 8th congregation of the school graduated 59 final year professional students and 74 went home with Certificates in Banking Operations.

Mr. Oppong further admonished the students to take advantage of the numerous opportunities available to continuously upgrade themselves.

“I would like to announce that the Institute has put in place measures to ensure that its members continue to be competent in their profession. As such, in 2018, we will roll out our Continuous Professional Development (CPD Program)”.

He added: “Take advantage of it, to ensure that your capabilities keep pace with the current standards of the banking and finance industry. Do all you can to ensure that you and your knowledge stay relevant and up-to-date.

“You are more aware of the changing trends and directions in this profession. The pace of change is probably faster than it’s ever been; this is a feature of the new kind of world we live and work in. If you stand still you will get left behind, as the currency of your knowledge and skills becomes out-dated”.
