FIFA has fined Egypt 20,000 Swiss Franc on Tuesday for “improper conduct among spectators” during the Pharaohs’ 2-1 win over Congo in the World Cup qualifiers, the world football governing body said on Tuesday.

Last month, Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah converted an injury-time penalty to help Egypt qualify for next year’s World Cup finals for the first time since 1990.

A few number of spectators invaded the pitch following the goal to celebrate the precious victory while some fans in the stands let off firecrackers.

FIFA added the Egypt were also fined “due to pitch invasion by media (personnel) and because “no flags were hoisted or flown in the stadium”.

Already-qualified Egypt meet Ghana away from home in their last Group E match of the World Cup qualifiers on Sunday.
