Ghana’s national Female Hockey team, the Black Sticks, have qualified for both next year’s Australia Commonwealth Games and London World cup.

Team Ghana’s Ladies and Males squad competed at the just ended Hockey Africa Cup of nations in Egypt which the female side progressed to the final by beating host Egypt, Nigeria and Kenya but lost to defending champions South Africa to place second at the championship whiles the male side failed to qualify by placing third.

According to the captain of the female team, Rachael Bamfo, the targets set by her colleagues saw them achieve this feat.

“We had a specific goal set by ourselves to qualify for both the Women’s World Cup and Commonwealth Games so hard work was our trademark. Our goal sitting has really brought us to our destination,” Bamfo told Starr Sports.
