Nigeria’s Super Eagles will pocket $15,000 each for a win in the group stage of next year’s World Cup in Russia.

This followed the meeting between the Eagles, their officials and the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in Russia, where an agreement was firmed up as regards bonuses, allowances and other benefits for featuring at the World Cup.

This new bonus is a 50% improvement from what was paid out as win bonus at the last World Cup in Brazil, where a player was paid $10,000 for a win in the first round.

The players will earn more for the later rounds of the tournament, an official said.

A lump sum of money will also be shared among the players who qualified the country to a sixth World Cup as qualifying bonus.

Coach Gernot Rohr is entitled to double what a player earns as bonus with several of his backroom staff also earning more than the players.
