The United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Ghana (UNHCR) is appealing to the government to site one of the planned projects under the One-District-One-Factory program at the Egyeikrom Refugee Camp in the KEEA Municipality of the Central Region.

Unemployment is rife in the camp which is now home to over one thousand Ivoirians.

The move, according to a representative of the commission, Loli Kimyaci would help residents gain employment and be self-sufficient.

“Challenges are mostly people not finding work, and not able to be self-reliant to be able to live by themselves so we hope that the one district, one factory will be near this camp so that they can employ some of the refugees living here”.

The Akufo-Addo government has promised to establish at least one factory in all districts across the country.
