A 21-year-old Nigerian has been arrested by the police in the Eastern region for allegedly possessing fake Ghanaian currency.

The suspect, Ndzi Dee Thank God was arrested by the Adweso District Police Command while attempting to load the counterfeit currency into his mobile money wallet.

Sources close to the arrest told Starr News’ Eastern regional correspondent Kojo Ansah that the mobile money vendor, Evans Panor, who operates in the New Juaben Municipality became suspicious when the suspect came to deposit GHc240 of the fake currency in GHc5 denomination.

He quickly informed the Police and the suspect was picked up.

A search on the suspect retrieved another GHc105 of the fake currency in same denomination. According to the police, careful scrutiny of the fake currencies retrieved on the suspect has same serial numbers.

Confirming the arrest to Starr News the CID at the Adweso District Police Command Detective Inspector Eunice Ankrah stated that the case has been forwarded to the regional headquarters for further investigation and prosecution.
