NUGS president and executives assessing the damages caused by the inferno

The President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), Elisha Oheneba Essumang Sunday visited the Konongo Odumase Senior High School to commiserate with students and authorities there after fire ravaged the school’s boys’ dormitories.

He was accompanied by his executives and the Ashanti Regional Students Representative Council.

The inferno charred to ashes all the belongings of the occupants of the dormitories.

The visit, according to Mr. Essumang was aimed at having first hand information on the extent of damage caused by the fire which will inform the Union’s effort in helping to ease the pain of the affected students.

In a meeting with the headmaster of the school, Benjamin Kweku Baah (Esq.), NUGS through its president pledged to support the affected students with relief items.

He also called corporate Ghana to come to the aid of the grief-stricken students as part of their Corporate Social Responsibilities.

On his part, Mr. Baah (Esq.) thanked the leadership of NUGS for their kind gesture and words of encouragement. He urged them to continue to advocate for students’ interest and deliver on their set objectives and mandate.

The MP for the Asante Akyem Central, Kwame Anyemadu Antwi in whose constituency the school is sited and the Municipal Chief Executive, Susan Akomeah thanked the NUGS leadership for the timely response.
