Ronaldo hands Real Madrid major boost ahead of Barcelona clash

Ronaldo picked up a knock in the Club World Cup final and was on an individual recovery programme this week.

There were huge doubts over whether he would return to fitness in time for Real’s huge El Clasico clash with Barcelona on Saturday (12pm).

And it is now being reported that he will rejoin his team-mates this morning ahead of tomorrow’s showdown.

Ronaldo scored the winning goal in the Club World Cup final against Brazilian side Gremio last week with a sweetly struck free-kick.

And he will be hoping to enjoy similar success at the Bernabeu against Ernesto Valverde’s side.

According to Marca, Zinedine Zidane now has all of his players available, including Ronaldo.

The report states that the 32-year-old has been doing his own gym work with his “trademark meticulousness” but only started doing work with the ball yesterday.

His desire to return for one of the biggest games of the season will see him join in with the group on the eve of El Clasico.

Real Madrid are currently fourth in the La Liga table.

And they trail leaders Barcelona by 11 points.

A defeat would all-but write off their title hopes and heap even more pressure on boss Zidane.
