President George Weah’ son, Timothy Weah, is preparing to make his debut for the USA despite his dad being the leader of Liberia on March 27.
Timothy has already followed in his famous father’s footsteps in playing for PSG, but the New York-born, part-time soul music producer could break the mold in playing for the country of his birth, instead of the nation his dad runs.
President Weah is one of the most famous names on the planet, having dominated world football for years before recently becoming the president of Liberia.
The former AC Milan star, 51, turned out for the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea during his glittering career, in which he was named 1995 World Player of the Year.
The younger Weah only recently turned 18, but can already boast two first-team appearances for French giants PSG on his CV.
His rise to prominence has been so rapid; the versatile forward has now been named in the USA’s squad for a friendly with Paraguay on March 27.
The surprise call-up comes after he starred at the U-17 World Cup last October, scoring a hat-trick against Paraguay.
US interim head coach Dave Sarachan waxed lyrical about Weah when revealing the youngster had made the national squad.
Sarachan revealed: “Tim has obviously been very successful with our youth national teams.
