The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on its members to comport themselves during the party’s Annual National Delegates’ Conference slated in the Eastern regional capital Koforidua this weekend.

Over 6000 delegates are expected to participate in the conference to elect national executives for the party to steer its affairs for the next four years.

Speaking at a news conference Tuesday to brief the media on the arrangements thus far, the acting General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu said the party has put in place strict security measures to ensure a “very peaceful conference.”

Mr. Boadu maintained: “We want to assure our party members and the general public that it is going to be a very peaceful conference and with the security measures we have put in place, we expect that all party members adhere strictly to directions that will be given to them. We expect that they will comport themselves just as they have at our polling stations, electoral area, constituency and regional conferences.”

He continued: “The party having put in place all relevant arrangements and preparation is very confident that the 2018 National Annual Delegates’ conference shall be a remarkable success.

“We therefore appeal to stakeholders, particularly the candidates for the respective positions and their teeming supporters to respect the rules of engagement and conduct this exercise with the necessary finesse and maturity so that, we will once again have an incident-free conference for the love of God and the party.

“The party wishes all candidates the best of luck in the primaries.”
