Manufacturers in the country are being warned over a criminal syndicate who seek to dupe companies.

According to reports, they operate by doctoring pictures of operational sites to extort money from unsuspecting firms in Tema and Accra. Blow Chem, manufacturers of Bel-Aqua mineral water and Yummie Noddles were nearly duped by the syndicate.

Brands and Communication Manager of Blow Group of Companies Emmanuel Quist told Starr Business, “Basically what they are doing is that they take pictures of your factory and try to doctor the picture to try to show you operating under unsavoury condition.

“Such people have gotten into contact with us and they have taken general pictures of our factory and they have edited some of these things into the picture. When they asked us to give them some monies to shut them up, we as a law-abiding company decided not to but rather to invite the press. Open our door to them, for you to come and observe the conditions under which we produce.”

The company will alert the Food and Drugs Authority and other regulatory bodies about the syndicate.
