Two arms coming up from water for help

A six-year-old Samuel Kwaku Selassie has drowned at Amanfrom, a suburb of Asamankese in the Lower West Akyem Municipality of the Eastern region Friday after a downpour.

The deceased allegedly drowned in an open drainage behind their house at about 2:30pm.

According to the family, the deceased was playing in the rain with five other friends in the neighborhood when he was carried away by the rushing rains.

Efforts made to save the deceased proved futile.

The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh who confirmed the incident to Starr News said search is still underway to retrieve the body.

Meanwhile, the heavy downpour recorded Thursday and Friday in parts of the country has also displaced some residents in the Birim North district.
