The Eastern regional executive election of the NDC which was scheduled to take place before midday could not be realised after the delegates staged a boycott and stayed outside the conference hall demanding that their transportation fares are paid to them first before they take part in the election process .
After the ‘T&T’ were paid to them, the incumbent Regional Chairman,Bismark Tawiah Boateng and the incumbent executives who were required to be present to move for the conference to begin, were no where to be found compelling the election committee to open the conference at 3pm after the Vice Chairman Kwaku Agyei moved for the conference to begin.
A total of 996 delegates have gathered at Apegusu Senior High School to select their leaders to lead the party for the next four years.
Present at the conference grounds are former government officials and top National executives including National Vice Chairman, Ofosu Ampofo and Deputy general Secretary Koku Anyidoho.
A total of 56 candidates are battling for various positions at the regional level with the chairmanship position and regional secretary position being the hottest contesting positions.
Election for the Youth ,and Women Organizer positions have already been held of which Shirley Naana Ampem defeated long time women organizer,Evelyn Korang while Kwadwo Minta won the Youth Organizer position.
Incumbent Regional Chiarman, Bismark Tawiah Boateng, is being contested by Basil Ahiable ,and John Owusu Amankrah after Alhaji Sumaila Stepped down few hours to the election to support Mr. Amankrah.
While incumbent Regional Secretary Mark Oliver Kevor is being contested by the Regional Communication Director ,Baba Jamal Konney.
