The election of the Greater Accra regional deputy youth and Women organizer positions of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)  appears to have hit a snag again as a suit has been filed against the polls, Starrfmonline.com has learnt.

Starrfmonline.com sources say the regional and national secretariats of the party as well as the electoral commission have been served with copies of the injunction.

The development means the election which was set to come off tomorrow Wednesday October 24 will not take place.

The initial election for the positions in August was fraught with guidelines irregularities necessitating a rerun.

In a statement on the development,  a group calling itself Concerned NDC members urged the party leadership  to resort to dialogue in dealing with such matters in the umbrella family.

“We wish to call on the party hierarchy, especially the Election Committee of the party to take steps to avoid all manner of legal confrontation at this stage as it has the tendency of jeopardizing  the time table of the National Congress.

“Again, the group is deeply concerned about the investments that would have gone down the drain at a time that the party should be focusing on NDC victory in the 2020 elections. It is therefore imperative to avoid such impasse at the detriment of the party and its supporters. In our view therefore, the endless legal confrontation must be avoided by keeping the status quo.

“In the interest of the party’s development therefore, we wish to call on the leadership to use dialogue for a lasting solution to this matter especially when it was the National women organiser who swore the winner’s into office after they were declared by the Electoral Commission,” the group said.
