Whether I am performing for a corporate occasion or a social gathering, my goal on the stage is for people to enjoy themselves to the max”, says talented singer/ rapper, Tipcy.

The ‘Sugar Mama’ singer known in real life as Eugene Akuamoah Boateng said this on Accra 100.5 FM, an Accra-based radio station speaking with Nana Romeo over the weekend as he embarked on a promo tour of his latest single titled ‘Awuradzi Boame’.

Asked why he loves live band even any minor gig, he says:  “I am not downplaying ‘playlist’ because that has become a common theme at events in place of live music and DJs. However, despite the ever-growing popularity of playlists, I am super passionate about live performances”.

First of all, though a playlist may allow you to choose all of your favourite songs, there is nothing quite like live music. Like attending a football game or racing circuit, you will never get the same atmosphere from a mobile device as witnessing the real deal live.

He said: “Secondly, my guests or audience should always be the focus of every event, and ensuring their enjoyment is key to my success. I enjoy the fact that I can interact with the audience, which makes for a far more enjoyable event- something that a playlist simply cannot achieve”.

He said, he is able to give shout-outs, communicate with his audience and even take performances off-stage and into the audience itself.

“Whilst these elements may seem small and insignificant, in reality, they could actually be hugely important and give your image a real boost”, says Tipcy.

“Finally”, he concludes: “whilst a playlist allows you complete control of the music, when I am doing live, I use my natural creativity to adapt my sets to any promoter’s specific event. In essence, when doing live, I am able to use my own judgments on what song to play next, or alternatively, I can allow the audience to put in requests for them to play”
